  • a paper that is coated with a preparation for transferring a design to another surface

  • Transfer paper is used in textiles and arts & crafts projects. Often, an ink-jet or other printer is used to print the image on transfer paper. Then a heat press can be used to transfer the image onto clothing, canvas, or other surface. Transfer paper is used in creating iron-ons.

  • In lithography, instead of drawing directly on the stone or plate, the artist can draw on transfer paper, a sheet of paper that has been covered with a soluble surface layer.

  • A T-shirt (T shirt or tee) is a shirt which is pulled on over the head to cover most of a person's torso. A T-shirt is usually buttonless and collarless, with a round neck and short sleeves.

  • T Shirt is a 1976 album by Loudon Wainwright III. Unlike his earlier records, this (and the subsequent 'Final Exam') saw Wainwright adopt a full blown rock band (Slowtrain) - though there are acoustic songs on T-Shirt, including a talking blues.

This might be better titled "Flailing About until a Giant Mess is Made." I'm not pleased with how this one turned out, but I decided to publish it anyway.

Materials used: Page from 1901 schoolbook, scrapbooking paper, images from Astrology book, Moon image from Dover clipart used on iron on t-shirt transfer, butterfly wing acrylic stamps, marker, colored pencil, sewing pattern, and some rub on ribbon stuff.

Whew, I think that's it. Somewhere along the way I forgot that less is more. And what's with all the orange? I don't think I even like orange that much. This is my third recent collage with orange - no one gets to see number one unless it miraculously gets good. (Marsha - can you make some "Fix it up" fairies that make bad collages good while I'm sleeping?)

Santa Cruz, CA (6/11/2009) - Continuing to work on the Beadwork Magazine challenge. As you can see, the pattern inspiration is at the top right--a greeting card from Paper Vision in downtown Santa Cruz. The platform for beading consists of two layers of medium weight fusible pellon (I come from a sewing background), a layer of cotton (the horizonal-striped fabric), and a layer of t-shirt transfer. Adding the T-shirt transfer was an experiment to see how it would affect the piece as I worked on it and the finished product. Looking back, it seems it was unnecessary so I probably will not do it in the future unless I'm actually using the pattern from the T-shirt transfer as a guide for the beadwork.
